Our Travel Trailer Window Project
Our travel trailer windows have sported mini-blinds for as long as we’ve had it. Nothing wrong with mini-blinds, of course, and I hadn’t thought much about it one way or the other. Deb, however, wanted to try something new.
So, we started looking at various window treatments that would lend themselves to our mobile application and tentatively decided on pleated shades. We thought we’d start with the kitchen in the camper to see how they looked and worked. We carefully measured each window and started price shopping. Since we’re Presidents Club members at one of the biggest camping and RV supply stores, we started there. The ol’ pocketbook said OUCH! We shopped at other places, including Home Depot. Everything we needed was a special order item – ouch again.
We finally ran across Blinds.com (http://www.blinds.com) and took a look at their Economy Pleated Shades line. We could easily specify the custom sizes we needed for our trailer’s kitchen windows, the prices were right and there was a nice selection of colors. So, we placed our order for three shades and crossed our fingers. A couple of weeks later the shades arrived and I installed them in the three kitchen/dinette windows in our RV.
Long story short, these shades worked out very well. We went on to order more for the rest of the windows in our trailer, including room darkening shades for our bedroom. We spent a LOT less than we originally anticipated and the quality is very good.
I was searching for information about ‘Home Interior Design Custom Draperies’, and this your page (‘vel Trailer Window Project | for-camping.com’) was in search results. Not sure why it appeared, but your site is still interesting to read 🙂
Thanks for the kind comment on the blog. I was curious, too, about why this post should show up in the results using the search phrase you mentioned. So, I searched both Google and Yahoo! using that phrase – with and without surrounding quotes. Went 10 pages deep and for-camping.com didn’t make an appearance. Guess you must have used some other search engine. Anyway, thanks again.
Just wanted to reply and say nice page, great to read from people who know what they are talking about.
Stunning, Thanks for the excellent outline
I don’t know about stunning, but it did come out pretty well. I checked out your website and enjoyed some of the information there about RV windows. Our fifth wheel has sliding frame-type and jalousie Windows. We’ve admired the frameless windows on other RVs. I didn’t see any frameless windows offered on your site (maybe I just missed them) and wondered why?
